(LEARFIELD) – Milwaukee Brewers closer Trevor Megill struck out three batters to escape a ninth-inning threat Sunday, saving a 3-2 win for the Brewers over St. Louis.
Milwaukee took three out of four from the Cardinals over the weekend.
The big hit was Christian Yelich’s 14th home run.
Quinn Priester collected the win with six solid innings, giving up only one run.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy talked about Priester’s start.
He also talked about Megill working out of the ninth-inning jam.
Megill said they’ve been stringing some wins together.
The Brewers sit alone in second place in the National League Central, taking a day off today before opening a 3-game series in Chicago against the Cubs on Tuesday.
MIles Mikolas was charged with the loss after allowing two runs on six hits in six innings. St. Louis has dropped seven of eight.
Woodruff throws a bullpen session: A Brewer hurler is making his way back.
Injured pitcher Brandon Woodruff threw a bullpen session Sunday morning and said he will throw another next week before beginning a rehab assignment, according to Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Woodruff has not appeared in a big league game since September 2023 after undergoing shoulder surgery.
