(WIAA) MADISON – Singles players and doubles teams were crowned champions in two divisions at the 2025 State Boys Tennis Tournament played at Nielsen Tennis Stadium Saturday.
Senior Nolan Schaub of Union Grove, the second seed, won the Division 1 singles championship with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over fourth-seeded Alexander Bo, a junior from Middleton, in title match. Schaub finished his undefeated season 33-0 after placing runner-up last season and advancing to the third round 2023.
In Division 1 doubles play, the top-seeded brothers’ team of senior Aiden Meixl and sophomore Colin Meixl of Kimberly downed the sixth-seeded duo of senior Michael Balister and junior Miles Seder of Menomonee Falls 6-3, 6-0. The Meixls capped an undefeated season at 24-0 after both advanced to the third round in singles play last season.
In Division 2, senior Kyle Hehli of West Salem, the #2 seed in the bracket, won the singles championship. He beat top-seeded Oliver Milleman, a senior from Catholic Memorial, 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 in the championship match. Hehli improved his record to 27-2 this year. The four-time qualifier also won the doubles title with his brother in 2022, and he finished fourth in singles play last year and fifth in 2023.
The top-seeded tandem of junior Finn Milleman and sophomore Brady Latus of Catholic Memorial defeated the sixth-seeded duo of seniors Miles Gourlay and Jack Gilpin of University School of Milwaukee 6-3, 5-7, 10-3 in the title match. Milleman and Latus improved their record to 20-1. Milleman also won the doubles crown with a different partner a year ago, and Latus qualified with a different partner last year and gained experience by advancing to the second round.
The State Boys Team Tennis Tournament is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 13-14 at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
