(LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Brewers avoided a sweep of the weekend series in Tampa with a 4-2 win Sunday afternoon.
Christian Yelich and William Contreras slammed consecutive home runs in the fourth inning, then run-scoring singles in the fifth and eighth provided enough offense for a victory.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy gave credit to the win to the offense, led by William Contreras, Rhys Hoskins and Christian Yelich.
He also said a key to the win was the work of the bullpen, allowing just 2 runs at the end of the game.
Tyler Alexander got the win in relief, and Trevor Megill closed the door on the Rays for his fifth save.
Freddy Peralta takes the mound tonight to start a three-game set in Cleveland.
Changes coming: The Brewers announced that starting pitcher Tobias Myers who started for the Brewers on Saturday is being optioned to Nashville.
Brewers general manager Matt Arnold explained why.
The Brewers are expected to activated Brandon Woodruff off the injured list this week. He ie expected to start Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
