(LEARFIELD) – Green Bay Packers rookies got their first taste of NFL football with a rookies mini-camp over the weekend.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said that the best time of the year isn’t Christmas but when players are in the building.
LaFleur talked about how much better the offense can be with the addition of wide receivers Matthew Golden and Savion Williams.
LaFleur said that the rookie minicamp is important.
He said getting the players enough of the playbook before they return for minicamp with the vets is important:.
Who’s that quarterback? A rookie quarterback from Canada was getting a lot of the coaches’ attention at the Packers’ rookie minicamp last weekend. Thirty-eight players were present. Six-foot-five, 227-pound Taylor Elgersma is an undrafted free agent. He won Canada’s equivalent of the Heisman Trophy after his senior season at Wilfrid Laurier University. Head coach Matt LaFleur tells reporters Elgersma has a “live arm” and can throw while rolling out. He could become the Packers’ number-two quarterback in 2026 if Malik Willis moves on.
