(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay softball team had a succesful senior day on Sunday at King Park, grabbing a pair of big wins over the Detroit Mercy Titans , taking game one 3-0 before taking game two 9-3. The Phoenix currently sits tied for sixth in the Horizon League with Detroit Mercy at 7-13. The top six teams in the Horizon League qualify for the Horizon League Championships at the conclusion of the regular season.
GAME 1 | Green Bay 3, Detroit Mercy 0
Genesis Eggart was dealing in game one, hurling a three-hit shutout, finishing with nine strikeouts and no walks. With the win, Eggart moves to 8-11 on the year.
Sara Ebner set the tone for the Green Bay offense in the first inning, leading the game off with a double to left center field. A few batters later, Sidney LaMotte singled to left and brought home Ebner to make it 1-0. Brooke Schwall doubled the lead for the Phoenix, singling home Jenna Redders.
GB remained up 2-0 until the third inning when Schwall once again singled home Redders to extend the lead to 3-0.
Schwall led Green Bay with a 2-for-3 game to go with two RBI. Ebner and Redders also finished the contest 2-for-3 at the dish. As a team, Green Bay outhit Detroit Mercy 9-3.

GAME 2 | Green Bay 9, Detroit Mercy 3
Detroit Mercy responded early in game two, putting up two runs off of Phoenix starter Paeton Kringel in the first inning. However, Green Bay responded an inning later by capitalizing on a Titans fielding error that ended up letting two runs score before Redders singled to score Anna Trimble.
Green Bay tacked a fourth run on in the fifth inning after a Sidney LaMotte double scored Redders. Detroit Mercy narrowed Green Bay’s lead to 4-3 before the Phoenix offense exploded for five runs in the sixth inning to stretch the advantage to 9-3. Redders was once again a key piece, doubling home two of the five runs scored in the frame.
Kringel got the win for Green Bay after going seven innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on three hits, allowing seven walks, and striking out seven.
Redders went 3-for-4 in the game with a double and three RBI. Ebner was a leader once again as well, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. LaMotte also contributed for Green Bay, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding two walks and an RBI.
