(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers wrapped up their interleague series with the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday with a 5-1 win at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
The Brewers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a triple by Garrett Mitchell and a bunt by Oliver Dunn.
Milwaukee added 3 more runs in the third inning 0n a solo home run by Christian Yelich and a 2-run home run by Rhys Hoskins.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that it was another good day for Hoskins.
Murphy also said it was good to see Yelich get rewarded
Detroit got a run back on a solo home run by Spencer Torkelson in the sixth inning.
Sal Frelick followed that up with a home run in the Brewers’ half of the inning for a 5-1 lead.
Brewers starter Jose Quintana went 5 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4.
Quintana talked about his outing.
He said that it feels great to go out and compete.
Murphy said that Quintana is a great example for young pitchers.
Keider Montero made his first start of the season for Detroit. He went 5 innings, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8.
The Brewers will have Thursday off before opening a weekend series against the Athletics.
