(WNFL) – The Notre Dame Tritons boys hockey team allowed Wausau West to score the game’s first goal but Notre Dame scored the next 5 en route to the win that advances them to the WIAA Division 1 state hockey championship game on Saturday.
Tyler Wendell put Wausau West ahead 1-0 but then Notre Dame got goals in order from Jack O’Briend. Andrew Ostermann, Nathan Anttie, Ryker Thomas and again Ryker Thomas for a 5-1 lead.
Wausau West responded with 3 goals to close to within 5-4 at 12:03 of the second period.
Thomas, Carson Schroeder and Anttie then scored to put the game away.
Anton Widas had 32 saves for Notre Dame.
Wausau West’s Julian Scalucci had 23 saves while Chase Crass had 3 saves.
