(LEARFIELD) PHOENIX – He’s been something of a “Brewers Killer.”
Milwaukee has signed veteran left-hander Jose Quintana to a one-year contract.
Quintana has been among the toughest pitchers for Brewers batters over his 13-year career.
He’s coming off a solid year with the Mets where he went 10-10 with a 3.75 ERA. For his career, he is 102-103 with a 3.74 ERA.
Quintana is 36 years old, has pitched for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates. Los Angeles Angels, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals and the Metss and doesn’t throw very hard, but he has become an expert at avoiding hard contact.
Brewers falls to Reds: The Brewers got edged by the Reds 5-4 in Spring Training baseball from Goodyear.
Caleb Durbin and Vinny Capra slugged back-to-back solo homers in the first inning.
Milwaukee fell to 4-and-6 in exhibition play and will square off against the White Sox in a pair of games tomorrow afternoon.
