(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) GRENN BAY – Green Bay women’s basketball has locked in a home quarterfinal game on March 6 as part of the 2025 Barbasol Horizon League Championships. A 58-47 win over Youngstown State on Thursday night secured a top-four spot and a first-round bye in the conference tournament.
Green Bay (20-5, 13-1 HL) improved its winning streak to a baker’s dozen behind 13 points each from Natalie McNeal and Jasmine Kondrakiewicz. Maddy Schreiber added another 12 off the bench, which is the most she has scored in the three games she has played since returning from injury. Bailey Butler tallied nine points, while Miah Meyer scored seven. The Phoenix also captured a regular season sweep of the Penguins for the second straight season. GB’s win was the 50th all-time against YSU.
Youngstown State (9-14, 4-9 HL) had a trio of double-figure scorers, paced by Jewel Watkins’ 14. Malia Magestro and Sophia Gregory had a dozen apiece. Xoe Rasalez tacked on another five.

GB shot 7-of-16 in the first frame and led 17-13 after the first 10 minutes of action. Green Bay took its momentum into the second stanza, where the Phoenix dominated both ends of the hardwood. McNeal and Kondrakiewicz each scored four points, while the defense clamped down and forced three YSU shot clock violations. Green Bay went into the break leading 33-18, with the 18 points tying the second-fewest given up all season in a first half by GB. The fewest was 17 points last Thursday at home against Cleveland State.

Contrarily, Green Bay made just five shots on 16 attempts, which allowed the Penguins to climb back into the game and enter the fourth quarter trailing by 11. The Phoenix continued to stay cold in the last 10 minutes, and YSU pulled to within six at 51-45 on a Gregory layup with 3:33 to go in regulation. Schreiber came up clutch on the ensuing possession, splashing a three from the right wing to extend the lead back to nine. GB led by no fewer than that for all but 17 seconds for the remainder of the game, reigning victorious by a final score of 58-47.
