(WNFL/LEARFIELD) – Current and former Milwaukee Brewers expressed their love and fondness for Bob Uecker, the legendary Brewers broadcaster who passed away Thursday at the age of 90.
The Brewers’ Christian Yelich talked about seeing Uecker after the loss in the wild card round to the New York Mets.
Yelich said that the tough part after the loss was his talk with Uecker.
He said that losing to the Mets was tough but talking with Uecker was even tougher.
Yelich said that he had grown very close to Uecker during his time in Milwaukee.
Brewers owner Mark Attanasio talked about how Uecker was able to get through the battle with cancer and still be around the team.
Attanasio said that Uecker was strong to the very end.
Former Brewers player Ryan Braun said that he was grateful for the time he had with Uecker.
Brandon Woodruff said that he enjoyed being around Uecker.
And Braun said that Uecker had the unique ability to inspire and know the right thing to say and was full of wisdom and knowledge.
The Brewers have said that they will organize a public ceremony to honor Uecker with details to be announced.
