(WTAQ-WLUK) — The owner of a Fond du Lac restaurant has been indicted on federal charges of arson and fraud after a fire damaged the building.
A grand jury returned the four-count indictment against Arletta Allen, 43, on December 17. It alleges she started a fire at A Family Affair Soulfood Kitchen in 2021. She then allegedly collected a $160,000 insurance payment, falsely signing a document saying she did not cause the fire.
If convicted, Allen could be sentenced to more than 55 years in prison.
Her initial appearance is scheduled for Jan. 13 at the federal courthouse in Milwaukee.
According to Allen’s website, she is a former Fond du Lac city council member.
