FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two men are in custody after a traffic stop in Fond du Lac County last week that led to the discovery of more than 150 grams of illegal drugs.
Just before 10 p.m. Nov. 19, a sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle traveling on I-41 in the township of Byron for an equipment violation. During the traffic stop, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
Records checks were conducted on both the driver, a 46-year-old Oshkosh man, and the passenger, a 43-year-old Stevens Point man.
“Both were found to have extensive criminal histories for crimes relating to the possession and distribution of illegal drugs, bail jumping, crimes involving vehicles, and other various crimes against persons,” a news release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office states.
Neither men had valid driver’s licenses. Additionally, the passenger had four separate active child support warrants through various Wisconsin counties, and the driver had a non-extraditable warrant out of Iowa for possession of dangerous drugs.
Illegally possessed prescription pills were concealed in the driver’s shoe and deputies found cocaine in the vehicle’s glovebox. Marijuana and more prescription pills were located near the center console, and a loaded extended 9mm handgun magazine was discovered in the backseat.
When the driver was transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail, staff recovered additional cocaine, as well as ecstasy, from his person.
In total, the seizure included 129 grams of cocaine, 21.4 grams of marijuana, 6.6 grams of ecstasy, various illegally possessed prescription pills and more than $300 in currency.
