CALUMET COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Kaukauna man who was out of jail on bond, driving without a valid license and with drug paraphernalia in his vehicle was eventually arrested in northern Calumet County, sheriff’s officials say.
The chase started just after 5 p.m. Wednesday when a deputy saw a vehicle without license plates headed south on Elm Road near Highway M in the town of Woodville. The deputy tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver sped off. A second deputy tried to use tire deflation devices to stop the vehicle, but the man drove into the ditch to get around the devices.
For safety reasons, deputies stopped the chase at that point.
With the vehicle headed toward Stockbridge on Highway 55, citizens called the sheriff’s office to report the vehicle driving in oncoming traffic and running another vehicle off the road.
Because the driver was becoming more reckless, deputies again tried tire deflation devices. It took three devices to get the vehicle to stop on Highway 55 near High Cliff Road in Harrison.
The 32-year-old driver was arrested without further incident. His name was not released.
