OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A driver in Oshkosh is facing his 5th OWI offense after fleeing from a traffic stop and crashing into a house.
Just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday, an officer initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of South Park Avenue and Knapp Street for an operator license violation.
While the officer was talking with the driver, the driver took off.
A short time later, a citizen reported that a vehicle struck the side of their home, causing minor damage to the siding of the house. After striking the house, the driver got out of the vehicle and ran away.
The driver was found in the backyard of a residence in the 1200 block of Bismarck Street.
Police say they are recommending multiple charges against the driver, including fleeing, felony bail jumping, 5th OWI offense, hit and run and first-degree reckless endangering safety.
