BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A project to install a living snow fence along Highway 29 has finished far ahead of schedule.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says crews installed fencing as well as shrubbery along the highway right-of-way. The project covered 8.25 miles between Highway 156 and Interstate 41.
The shrubs are expected to reduce blowing and drifting of snow, increasing safety and reducing snow removal costs.
Work began in February and was initially scheduled to last into the fall.
The $1.56 million project finished on budget.
