GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — On the heels of Green Bay topping one publication’s list of Best Places to Live, another analysis has found the city the most affordable in the U.S.
MarketWatch says grocery costs in Green Bay are 15% lower than the national average and the prices of miscellaneous goods and services come in 12% below the national average.
The average rent of $870 per month was the 10th-lowest across the 223 cities studied. The national average is close to $2,000 per month.
MarketWatch listed Green Bay’s median household income at $70,879 and the median home price at $245,000.
Green Bay beat out Wichita, Kansas, Rapid City, South Dakota, Springfield, Illinois, and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma for the top spot in the most affordable list.
Other Wisconsin cities that made the list are Eau Claire at number 17 and Madison at number 28.
Affordability also factored into U.S. News & World Report’s Best Places to Live rankings that listed Green Bay at the top. In the “Cheapest Places to Live” component, Green Bay ranked eighth.
