GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Despite Green Bay’s recent pay increase for seasonal employees, the city’s aquatic facilities are still looking for lifeguard staff.
Colburn, Resch, and Joannes are set to open on June 10; but Ann Moeller, recreation manager with Green Bay Parks, Recreation, and Forestry, says that could change if staffing levels aren’t met.
“We are fully staffed for lifeguards at Resch Aquatic Center, but we still have a number of facilities attendant positions we’re trying to fill at Resch,” said Moeller. “Joannes and Coburn still are not fully staffed for lifeguards.”
Moeller says they’re working to get more staff by being flexible with scheduling, and providing free lifeguard training.
Right now, there are 35 lifeguards employed for the city this season. They need 50.
“If anyone is hoping to get a summer job, now is the time to apply,” said Moeller. “Don’t wait until the school year is over, because then we’re going to be talking about delayed openings if we’re not quite where we need to be.”
