APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — The Appleton Police Department responded to a threat early Monday morning.
At 6:03 a.m., officers were dispatched to an address in the 700 Block of West Wisconsin for a bomb threat.
Upon arrival, a perimeter was established, and officers completed a comprehensive search of the premises.
The Appleton Drone Team was deployed along with two K9 teams specializing in explosive detection. A thorough search was conducted, and nothing was located. It was determined the threat was not credible, and officers cleared the scene.
Lieutenant Meghan Cash with the Appleton Police Department says work in this case is still ongoing to hold certain individuals accountable.
“Our investigators are actively working currently on determining where this came from, what the phone numbers were; and those things take time with subpoenas, warrants, and things like that,” said Cash.
While the threat was ultimately deemed a hoax, police emphasize that they take every threat seriously; and the safety and security of the community remain their top priority.
