Brewer pen delivers again

The best bullpen in the major leagues belongs to the Milwaukee Brewers.   Five relief pitchers were called on Tuesday night and they all delivered in Milwaukee’s 6-5, 11 inning victory over the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park.    The game was back and forth early as Christian Yelich led off the contest with a solo home run off Seattle starter Logan Gilbert.   Yelich knocked in a run in the two run third as the Brewers went up 3-0.   Milwaukee starter Colin Rae, in his second appearance since getting called up from Nashville, began well but he ran into trouble allowing four runs in the third inning that gave the Mariners the lead.  He was able to settle down for two more frames and Willy Adames tied the game at four with a solo shot in the 6th.  It stayed that way until extras when Milwaukee scored in the 10th but the Mariners answered.  Adames came through with a fielder’s choice RBI in the 11th, his third of the game and the bullpen corps finished the job.   The relief pitchers worked six innings and gave up only the unearned run in the 10th while striking out 8 Mariners.  Matt Bush fanned the side in the 8th, Devin Williams matched that with three K’s in the 9th and for the first time in his career, Bryse Wilson was called on to work the extra innings which of course have a runner starting on second base.     He got through the 10th OK but in the 11th, had the bases loaded before getting a ground out to end the ball game.  Milwaukee’s bullpen ERA is now 1.98, the best in baseball and it’s propelled the Brewers to a third straight win and a 13-5 record with one game left on what will be a winning 10 game road trip.    The only down note came when rookie Garrett Mitchell uncorked a throw from center field and immediately grabbed his right shoulder.  Manager Craig Counsell believes it’s a subluxation that could sideline him for a while.   Milwaukee will send Eric Lauer to the mound as they go for a sweep in Seattle.  Pre-game coverage begins at 2:35 PM with a 3:10 PM first pitch on WNFL.
