GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — As Appleton continues to debate the future of its No Mow May program, Green Bay and De Pere are moving ahead with their plans for 2023.
No Mow May allows homeowners to mow their lawns less, or stop mowing altogether, during the month of May. The idea is to create habitat and provide early-season resources for bees and other pollinators.
No Mow May is voluntary. Those participating are asked to register and display city-issued No Mow May signs in their front yards throughout the month.
Last year, the cities say more than 1,200 households participated in the program.
In Appleton, a city committee recommended maintaining the program despite uncertainty about a study illustrating its benefits. The full common council will vote on the ordinance at a future meeting.
