It was a big game in the race for the NBA’s record and Eastern Conference title but it was also the 5th game in 7 nights for the Milwaukee Bucks as they welcomed the Boston Celtics to Fiserv Forum Thursday night. It showed for the weary home side as the Celtics embarrassed the Bucks 140-99. This was a blowout from the get go as Jayson Tatum piled up 40 points while Jaylon Brown added 30. Both got it done in just three quarters, sitting the rest of the way and when they sat down, those two had outscored the entire Bucks team at that point. The lead got as big as 49 in the second half. Boston rained in 22 three point shots in 43 attempts. Milwaukee was led by Giannis Antetokounmpo with 24 but they were beaten and bloodied by Boston. Khris Middleton had to leave the game in the second half when he took an elbow to the mouth from Marcus Smart and spit out plenty of blood on the floor. The frustration was evident even in the final minute when Thanasis Antetokounmpo was ejected for a flagrant foul after a hard foul from Blake Griffin of the Celtics. Despite the loss, the Bucks (55-22) remain two games ahead of the Celtics with five games left in the regular season. Milwaukee will get some welcome rest to lick their wounds before welcoming Philadelphia to Fiserv on Sunday. The 76ers are running third in the east, just four and a half games off the pace.
