The Marquette Golden Eagles continue to soar atop the rugged Big East conference. Marquette completed a season sweep of Villanova, a Final Four team from a year ago, with a 73-64 victory at Fiserv Forum Wednesday night. This was a back and forth affair in the first half and Marquette was able to stay within a point when Kameron Jones swished a three point shot from just beyond half court at the buzzer. The Golden Eagles couldn’t seal the win until the defense came up with seven consecutive stops in the final three minutes. Tyler Kolak led the way with 20 points while Jones added 18. Marquette improves to 18-5 overall, 10-2 in Big East play, good for a share of first place with Xavier, which knocked Providence into third place with an 85-83, overtime victory in Cincinnati. The 12th and 14th ranked Golden Eagles will take on Butler next, in Indianapolis on Saturday.
