SEYMOUR, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Seymour Community School District remodel is taking tech ed up a notch for students.
The $6.55 million facility is expanding and refining the technical education space in the high school.
The project separated and expanded spaces for woods, metals, and welding classrooms to improve workflow and safety.
Seymour instructor, Staci Sievert, says many students are now considering apprenticeships, technical, or STEM degrees because of the new space.
“Six years ago our administration really put a focus on improving tech ed,” said Sievert. “We changed the curriculum, upgraded equipment, and saw a 60% growth in student enrollment.”
District voters also approved a referendum to add on and renovate facilities in 2021. The project was officially completed in November.
EGI Mechanical Inc. was a sponsor for the remodel. EGI says they value school collaboration and hope Seymour students can help fill future worker demands.
