GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Green Bay Packers Foundation is awarding $1.35 million in grants around the state, including $850,000 to Brown County alone.
This is the largest donation the program has given out at one time.
Five organizations in Brown County will be receiving funding. Curative Connections, Inc. received $250,000 for their Yesteryear Village project, which provides care to those with memory loss. Syble Hopp School was awarded $100,000 to put to its vocational/community training space equipment. Belin Health Foundation, Inc. received a $250,000 grant to go toward building a larger facility. Friends of the Fox River Trail was awarded $50,000 for trail repairs and enhancements.
Dane and Milwaukee County both have one organization receiving funding.
The Center for Black Excellence and Culture in Dane County received $250,000 to be used to build their center. This is the first grant awarded to a Dane County organizations as part of the grant program.
Lastly, the Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation received $250,000 to support its Let Us Play project, which focuses on transforming the schools’ public playgrounds.
“We are proud to award these grants to seven different worthy organizations throughout the state of Wisconsin,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. “We have been fortunate to be able to enhance our charitable giving through the Packers Foundation since our impact grant program began, and we’re pleased to award these significant donations to these nonprofits.”
All but one of the grants — the one awarded to Syble Hopp — are matching grants, requiring the nonprofit to raise the same dollar amount to secure the donation.
