DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) – A softball tournament disguised as a fundraiser, or maybe the other way around. In any case, the 39th annual Pink Flamingo classic softball tournament is this weekend at Legion Park in De Pere.
Invited teams will square off and Pink Flamingo spokesman Trevor Ramseier says you’re going to find some serious softball going on.
“There are 3 givens in life. Death, taxes and grown men crying if they win the Pink Flamingo.”
But when you get right down to it, that’s not really point of the Friday through Sunday tournament.
“Whose mission is to raise money and bring awareness to non-profit and/or charitable organizations, youth groups, and families in need.”
So, that means a number of organizations raising money for their non-profit will be there as well. Over the years this event has generated $1.3 million for charity.
Ramseier says the festival-like atmosphere gets the players on the field even more fired up.
“You play on a Friday or Saturday night there’s a real good chance you’re at that plate in front of 3,000 people.”
In addition to softball for 3 days there’s a 5-K run/walk and a parade Saturday morning….and music at Legion Park Saturday night.

The 2022 Pink Flamingo Classic Parade leaves De Pere High School at
9:00am on Saturday morning, travels West on Merrill St., then turns North
on Ontario St., finally going East on Charles St. into Legion Park. Every
float will have candy, so be sure to line the streets!
