GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Eight people had to be rescued off of the Bay of Green Bay after a piece of ice broke off from shore Sunday evening.
The Little River Fire Department was called around 6:45 p.m. to the area of North Bay Shore County Park, and when they first arrived, they were able to rescue one person using a small flat-bottom boat.
The ice quickly drifted too far from shore, however, and the US Coast Guard had to be contacted to help the others.
All eight people were brought back to shore safely.
