OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – An Outagamie County sheriff’s deputy recovering from COVID-19 is one step closer to going home.
Deputy Channing Pompa was hospitalized for COVID-19 on Sept. 26. He spent some time in the intensive care unit as well as on a ventilator at an area hospital before he was transferred out-of-state with complications of severe COVID pneumonia.
According to the family’s GoFundMe page, Pompa is doing better and is currently in rehabilitation, adding he is expected to have up to one month in rehab and will be able to go home.
“We are so incredibly grateful for all of his care team along the way, that helped save his life and got him to where is he today. Channing wanted to say thank you to everyone for their support and prayers. It truly means a lot,” a family statement wrote.
