GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Packers have activated five players off the COVID-19 reserve list that could help them when they take on the Minnesota Vikings Sunday night.
The Vikings also lost starting quarterback Kirk Cousins to their COVID/Reserve list. Cousins is unvaccinated. Even if he were asymptomatic, he wouldn’t be able to return in time to face the Packers. The NFL recently reduced the required quarantine period to five days for asymptomatic players.
The Vikings (7-8) are one game out of the last wild-card spot in the NFC with two weeks to go. The Packers (12-3) are in control of the top seed and a first-round bye.
The Vikings activated backup quarterback Sean Mannion from the COVID-19 reserve list, putting the seventh-year veteran in line to start at Lambeau Field for a frozen Sunday Night Football game.
Meanwhile, Packers punter Corey Bojorquez, guard Ben Braden, linebacker Oren Burks, tight end Tyler Davis, and tight end Marcedes Lewis were activated on Saturday.
Linebacker Ty Summers was also activated, but he goes back on the regular injured reserve list.
Defensive lineman RJ McIntosh was restored to the practice squad after being on the practice squad reserve/COVID-19 list.
The Packers also elevated Abdullah Anderson, a defensive lineman, and David Moore, a wide receiver, from the practice squad to the active roster for gameday as COVID-19 replacements.
The game versus the Vikings kicks off at 7:20 at Lambeau Field.
