GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay schools are hoping to hear from district families on changing its dress code policy.
In October 2019, the Board of Education approved significant changes to the dress code policy, including the ability for principals to permit the wearing of headwear in the district’s schools.
The policy defined “headwear” as: hats, hoods and bandanas that allow the ears and face to be visible and not interfere with the line of sight to any student or staff (except clothing/headwear worn for religious or medical purposes).
In June of 2020, the board had planned to revisit the policy language but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was continually pushed off, now with an expiration date set for June 30, 2022.
The school district released a survey to families, seeking their feedback on new policy language regarding the wearing of headwear.
It will be discussed at its December or January Board of Education meeting.
Survey responses will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Friday Dec. 13.
