GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One of the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary’s animals that gained an unexpected few weeks of fame last year is nearing the end of her life.
Clover the hedgehog has cancer and has been taken off exhibit, the sanctuary announced on social media Thursday.
“Clover is 6 years old and has had a long, eventful life,” the post read. “She has been very healthy and active until recently.”
Part of that eventful life included disappearing from the sanctuary in February 2020. Sanctuary officials discovered her cage had been pried open and concluded that she had been stolen.
A little more than a week later, someone went to the sanctuary’s gift shop, dropped Clover off, saying, “here is your hedgehog back,” and walked out the door.
Clover was determined to be healthy when she was returned.
