MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – Exhibitors and expo goers are excited to be back at the World Dairy Expo in Madison after taking a year off due to the pandemic. “We really couldn’t be more thrilled to be back in person in Madison after a year off last year, and the anticipation is really truly building as exhibitors start to move on to campus, as we prepare to open those gates on Tuesday morning September 28,” WDE Communications Manager Katie Schmitt said.
This year’s event runs from September 28th to October 2nd at the Alliant Energy Center. Schmitt said that the dairy show’s looking really good at this point and may even have more entries than in 2019. “So, our dairy cattle show is looking incredibly strong right now, our entry numbers are at, if not actually above our 2019 numbers, so looking at an incredible show,” Schmitt said. “Our trade show is going to look a little different with some footprint changes that have been in the works for actually going on two years. We’ve been working on building a new trade center and readjusting the layout.”
Schmitt explained that because of everything going on with the pandemic, the trade show has fewer businesses involved compared to past years, but that’s all because of travel and border restrictions around the world.
Due to the guidelines in place throughout Dane County, Schmitt mentioned the protocol they’re moving forward with. “There are emergency orders, published by public health at Madison and Dane County for face coverings for enclosed public spaces. So, what that means for Expo is that there will be mask required signs placed on our enclosed buildings, so the exhibition hall the trade center, the colosseum, and the arena building. It does not include the New Holland pavilions, or the cattle tents.”
