GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport is expecting an uptick in travelers for the Christmas season.
Airport Director Marty Piette says that because Christmas falls at the end of the week, they expect travel to be a little more spread out than it was over Thanksgiving.
“We’ll probably see people gradually leaving [throughout the week],” Piette told WTAQ. “And then all coming back on Saturday and Sunday.”
Piette says airline travel is safe, even in the era of COVID-19, given the safety protocols in place.
“A Harvard medical study demonstrated that flying on an airplane is actually safer than going to a restaurant or a grocery store,” Piette said. “Because of all the safety precautions in place.”
Be sure to check with your airline for their pandemic rules before you fly.
