Parts Of Brown County Parks To Be Closed During Gun-Deer Hunt
BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Some park areas in Brown County will be closed to non-hunters during the nine-day gun deer season.
The county’s parks department says Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve and the Fort Howard Paper Foundation Wildlife Area trails and grounds will be closed to anyone who does not have a county special hunt permit. The Interpretive Center at Barkhausen will remain open to the public.
At the Reforestation Camp, all trails will be closed. The playground and fishing ponds will remain open.
At Lily Lake Park, the picnic grounds and boat launch will remain open. However, visitors are advised that gun hunting is allowed in some areas of the property.
The Vande Hei Property will be closed to non-hunters.
Anyone using the open areas of the parks is advised to wear blaze orange for safety.
While hunting is prohibited on the Fox River and Mountain-Bay trails, hikers and bikers are reminded that adjoining private property may be open to hunting. Those using the trails are advised to wear blaze orange.
The gun deer season runs from November 21st-29th.
