(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Bucks chose not to play Wednesday afternoon in their NBA playoff game in Orlando against the Orlando Magic.
The boycott which appeared to catch NBA officials off-guard was as a result of the shooting of Jacob Blake on Sunday night by a Kenosha police officer.
Bucks guard George Hill told The Athletic yesterday, “We can’t do anything from Orlando. First of all, we should have even come to this place to be honest.”
In his pre-game meeting with the media, Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer told www.jsonline.com’s Lori Nickel, “Our team has had lots of conversations and has a high level of concern and wanst to continue to fight for racial justice, for socail justice, for th eend of excessive use of force by police. I think it’s best for our team conversations and what we’re thinking and doing to stay private until if and when a player or myself decides something needs to be made public.”
There is no word on when the game will be re-scheduled.
